Werra mat
Zeiss Tessar 50mm f2.8
I found this beauty at a flea market in Dresden. Took a chance, paid the 10 Euros, and Pow!, it works flawlessly and is truly a weirdo among mid-century 35mm cameras. It has an amazing lens, a working selenium lightmeter, rangefinder with zone focusing, and shutter cocking and film advance is done by rotating the black ring clockwise around the lens. Everything is manual, so unlike my old Agfa, if the lightmeter stops working the camera will still operate.
And it looks pretty damned cool, too!
Here is more than you ever wanted to know about this East German masterpiece:
Werra by VEB Zeiss I will summarize and translate this at some point, but don’t hold your breath. Translation and summary
Now please excuse me while I go back to taking shitty Dresden tourist photos with this wonderful old camera.
Cheers,
-Walter
